Samsung UN46B8000 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED HDTV Review |
| I just discovered this thing plays Divx files from a USB stick (see page 53 of the instructions for a full list of supported video codecs). It plays them full screen and the quality is very impressive considering the video files I was playing were only 640 x 480. Somehow this TV is able to scale by a factor of 3 and still maintain a crisp image. |

Customer Reviews Beware of Samsung customer service – Gracie Katz – US After having this TV for 11 months, the remote control stopped working. A quick call to Samsung’s 800 number assured me that a new remote was on its way. Don’t believe them. It turns out that their service standard is to ship with 14 business days – ie it may be almost a month before you get what you ordered. And to call them just gets a reply that it hasn’t been 14 business days yet, so keep waiting. It turns out that my remote wasn’t even shipped, but they couldn’t tell me that for 14 business days. When they finally did ship it, it arrived in a padded envelope via UPS. It was DOA, likely damaged in shipment due to insufficient packaging. Customer service said “no problem”, we’ll replace it. I am still waiting, but it hasn’t been shipped yet. But then again, they’ve only sat on the order for 8 business days so far, so I have to wait another week and a half before I can even complain. When I asked if it would be shipped in a box this time, the customer service agent said she has no way to communicate with the shipping department. I have found out that they have an “executive customer relations department” (why is this even necessary?)who can e-mail their shipping department. So I requested it be shipped in a box, so maybe this next remote, if I ever receive it, won’t be DOA. Terrif! – R. McKnerney – South Windsor,Ct Love-Hate – James P. Samsung UN55C6800 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black) Review |
| I have researched every brand of TV via internet and store visit in the last 6 months and narrowed it down to Samsung. After deciding I wasn’t interested in 3D, I looked for the best 2D TV with the best Picture. With out a question, this is the best 2D TV on the market today. First, the out of the box plug and play was super easy. I was expecting to calibrate the settings and had CNETs suggestions ready. To my amazement the factory picture settings were almost spot on. The main take away from this review is that the picture quality is really the best I’ve seen. If there is only one con to this unit, like other LEDs, the picture’s colors do get slightly washed out at very extreme angles. Other than that no other issues (no corner ghosting). Even the sound I really believe is better than average, but I will upgrade to a sound bar for that theater/sports volume needed. Again, picture picture picture quality is amazing and you should buy this TV. |

Customer Reviews Excellent TV once setup properly – J. Hodges – I only gave this TV three stars at first because movies were unwatchable on it. I had tried the suggestions to no avail. Today, after switching the “auto motion plus” feature off on the correct (blu ray player) input (not the LED motion plus – you can turn that one on if you like), the movies look like movies again and they look great. So now I no longer have any complaints about this TV and I am a very satisfied customer. Great blacks, no bleeding, great picture (some adjustment may be needed), internet@tv is neat, sleek looking, I could go on and on. 5 stars now. Good job Samsung. *** Product Information and Prices Stored: Jul 27, 2010 21:51:10 |

Samsung UN46C7000 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black) Review |
| I own several Samsung products and have been pleased with each one. I have also read of the horror stories of working with Samsung customer support and must say in my case all were proved false. I did my homework and was waffling between the UN46C7000 and the UN46C6300, thought for the extra money the 7000, 3D Blu-Ray Player and starter kit would be a fun addition to the house. The TV showed up as promised on the day I arranged, eagerly put it all together, inserted the 3D movie Monsters vs Aliens…it didn’t work. Just got a blured image. What to do? My first thought was to return it to Amazon and start all over. But, decided to give Samsung a chance to correct the problem. The TV worked fine in 2D it just lacked the 3D and wow what a picture, it truly is crystal clear. The Blu-Ray disk player (BD-C6900) is awesome as well, a little pricey, but fast! Well the call to customer service went well, started with the standard card flipping problem solver who quickly passed me to technical support. He had me run through a battery of problem solving checks and decided a visit from a technician was necessary. Got the call the following day for a visit the next day and get this “When it was convenient for me”! I’m a teacher so it’s not really easy to up and take a day for the usual “I’ll be there between Noon and 7:00″ appointment. He showed up at 5:00 ran through a series of tests, no not much different than the one’s I ran through with the phone tech, but I guess he had to confirm the previous tests. Still no 3D. He needed to make contact with Samsung about his findings. Early the next week he returned, (yes, again when convenient) and found that I had at best a failed IR transciever or worse a failed main board. Got a call Monday of the next week that parts were ordered and an appointment was made for Thursday to make the repair. The tech showed up again and I now have 3D. So from beginning to end we waited a little more than 4 weeks to have the 3D but wow, it really is impressive. Yep, I know it’s a gimmick and there are few movies to support the feature but Blu-Ray movies and HD television look spectacular and I would recommend the UN46C7000 on that alone. If I were to have one wish granted it would be to include built-in Wi-Fi instead of the add on stick, come on Samsung I paid a premium for this TV!
If I had it to do all over would I buy this television again? Yes, but I had a working 2D television with a broken 3D feature. If the TV had shown up totally broken I might had a more negative review. Oh and at the advice of the technician I extended the warranty 2 years, just to be on the safe side. |

Customer Reviews Nice Tube – Ubiq – South Pasadena, CA United States Great TV – 3D is a bonus! – Gisele – Hampstead, London The 240Hz refresh rate makes a HUGE difference in picture quality over smaller LCD TVs we’ve got that have a 60Hz refresh rate. There’s no motion blur and no noticeable skipping. Blu-ray action flicks are awesome. We’ve been watching the soccer matches in 3D and it’s cool. Not perfect and not as startling as hoped for, but still – really cool. Can’t wait for a movie other than Monsters vs Aliens (can only watch it so many dozen times…) to put it to the test. The only complaint I have is that the volume doesn’t go terribly high. For most things this isn’t a problem since most components go through the AV system, but for Netflix and hard drive, it can be slightly annoying. All in all, no regrets at all. I’d buy it again. Blown Away by this LCT 3D TV – Fred Jewell – Raymond NH The 3d experience is limited but the BluRay DVD that came with the Starter pack was amazing. The 2D – 3D conversion playing AVATAR in BluRay is VERY good. If I were to add anything it would be more composite inputs. HDMI from Cable and the Samsung BC6900 BluRay player is truly amazing. Clarity is breathtaking, and that’s compared to my DELL plasma. I recommend you learn how to adjust the TV and use all of the options to get the maximum benefit for your vewing experience. Can’t wait till I get to see the World cup match broadcast in 3D on espn this Sunday. Just a note for those of you who sometimes have a case of Duhhh, like I did. 3d cannot be sent from cable or satellite over composite, it has to be HDMI. Composite is analog and HDMI is digital nuff said. Allshare is VERY nice as it synchs up the DVD and the TV. I am tempted to get a Samsung surround sound setup which will also connect via allshare. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and IF I had to do it all over again I’d make the same choice. Samsung UN46B8500 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LED HDTV Review |
| I got this TV prior to X-Mas as a big surprise from my better half. She knew that I had been researching for months on a replacement for our 5 year old LCD. I had read all the reviews on edge lit LED LCD’s and compared them in person dozens of times. I’m not a plasma fan at all, so those sets were out. Its a dying technology as LCD continues to move forward like Apples does the latest gadgets. But I kept coming back to the backlit LED local dimming 8500. It had a higher price point for sure, but the picture was far superb.
Set up was easy. Screw in the base or wall mount, plug it in, look at the video and audio settings (you must use a surround system), test it against movies, Blu Ray and the best HD channels you have, and adjust to your liking. Its really easy to do. Color is off the charts. Blacks are truly black and blues are incredibly blue. In essence, colors are lifelike, not saturated or overblown and the detail will make you do a double take once your favorite HD show is streaming through. Widgets are OK. I didn’t buy the TV for them. They are slow, but do work (I have a fiber optic 30 Meg down, 5 Meg up connection). Read CNET talk about the Pioneer Kuro and how this TV compares to the “best” TV of all time. Or read the reviews here and be sold. This is the best LCD TV ever made. End of story. The picture is breathtaking and easily adjustable. Don’t spend unnecessary money on calibration. Use your own eyes. Just be warned to adjust the judder and other settings so that the picture doesn’t look too real! Amazing, amazing pic. I have watched the price of this set for over five months now (trust me, I had a 60 day price match guarantee). Its gone up and gone down. It is going up now because you can barely buy it anymore due to legal issues between Sharp and Samsung over technical battles. Some retailers hold this model in our great nation and if you can pull the trigger, do so. Samsung won’t be able to replicate a picture like this for quite some time and don’t buy into the 3D hype. It will take some time to produce high quality HD video and those sets still use the inadequate edge lit structures (some across the top and bottom). Samsung hit the sweet spot with this set and after five months of Blu Ray, HD, Sports, Discovery, kids movies, even standard definition (gasp), I am sold. With any TV, I recommend buying warranty especially since this set is in legal mumbo jumbo. If you don’t and you get a lemon, you will be at the mercy of Samsung customer service. Which is to say the least, somewhere between Darth Vader and Simon Cowell. Long live the 8500. A stunning set visually and the uber thin chassis is equally impressive. |

Customer Reviews Samsung 46B8500 – Allan Bowdery – NY You won’t be disapointed – Richard Schmidt – Oakland, CA USA Tone down Auto-motion – S. Gilhooly – Greater Boston, MA United States As for the picture performance the display is absolutely stunning. When I calibrated it, I really didn’t have to change many settings at all. The preset modes are very reasonable (a problem with many TV’s that have default settings that do great at catching your eye in the store but look awful in your living room). I did find the Auto Motion Plus feature kind of disturbing. Watching movies with this feature at its default settings is pretty eerie. It makes things look like a home movie. I’d recommend using the “custom” setting and really turning it down (or simply off). But with that distraction out of the way the picture is again, top-notch. I do notice a little bit of “blooming” on some white-on-black images (like credits), but it is very minor and doesn’t detract from the picture on normal scenes at all. I also notice a bit of a viewing angle issue… the absolute best picture is when you are at 0° dead center straight on. Veer much at all and you’ll see a little drop in contrast. But that remains steady until you are way off to the side. If you never saw the image at the dead-center angle you wouldn’t mind the quality at the angles but when you see the difference you’ll be reminded again. Again, neither of these is severe enough to make a difference in the overall experience. Lastly, the setup is pretty easy. Some things are a bit too hidden in the menus. For example, when I was experimenting with different auto-motion settings I had to push a lot of buttons between attempts. But I guess they can’t make all the features available at the top level. Best of all, the ability to rename the input sources is a nice touch (so the babysitter doesn’t have to remember that ‘Video-4′ is the Wii). *** Product Information and Prices Stored: Jul 03, 2010 20:52:09 |

Samsung WMN1000B Fixed Low-Profile Wall Mount for Select Samsung 40-Inch to 55-Inch Displays Review |
| I bought this mount to hang a Samsung 46″ LED TV above a fireplace. It comes with a variety of screws for most wall surfaces, and I love the way you can pull the bottom of the TV away from the wall while it is hanging in order to hookup cables, etc. Unfortunately you must be able to screw the mount points into the wall in the exact right place – there is very little room for adjustment (0″ vertical, about 1/2″ horizontal). If you have something behind your TV like a cable jack or electrical outlet, make sure it is not where you will want to mount this unit, or (like me) you’ll be back on Amazon ordering a new mount. My next attempt will be the Sanus VMPL250B, which I can attach to the wall lower than my cable jack, and has more flexible placement options for the screws along the horizontal axis. |
